Alan Belasen has a BA and MA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Ph.D. from the University at Albany. Dr. Belasen has taught at Union Graduate College, School of Managment http://www.uniongraduatecollege.edu/pages/schools/management/faculty.asp, Department of Communication at the University at Albany, and currently is the chair of the MBA program at SUNY-Empire State College, which he co-designed and implemented. He also designed a joint MBA program between Anadolu University in Turkey and Empire State College.
In 2000, Dr. Belasen published a seminal book on leadership and organizational transformations entitled Leading the Learning Organization: Communication and Competencies for Managing Change. In 2007, he published his new book: The Theory and Practice of Corporate Communication: A Competing Values Perspective. His articles appear in the Journal of Human Resource Management; International Journal of Human Resources Development & Management; International Journal of Leadership & Organizational Development; and the Proceedings of the 2008 Academy of Management: Competing Values Framework for Comporate Communication: Theoretical and Practical Implications. and Roles Women Transform, Roles Women Play
Alan Belasen is the founder and editor of Management Development Forum, an international, peer-reviewed journal. His research areas and consulting practices include management development and education, leadership skills and organizational development. Dr. Belasen also provides communication audits consultancy.
Dr. Belasen is an active member of the Academy of Management. He is the recipient of the 2001 and 2002 Academy of Management, Management Education & Development Division "Outstanding Reviewer Award." He is also a member of a number of professional associations including the Association for Business Communication.
